Hi,
for a long time i've been running with this sort of spec:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#j0EZhxZfxhIzMzgI0ocsux:pAMmVc

I enjoy playing the sort of catch tank and being the last wall of defense when things go wrong with the main tank. I've long enjoyed AOE tanking unholy style.

However, 3.2 presents a significant change:
"Unholy Blight: This talent has been redesigned. It no longer deals damage to nearby targets. Instead, when you deal damage with Death Coil, the target will take periodic damage for 10 seconds equal to 30% of the damage done by Death Coil. This damage accumulates in the same way as Ignite and Deep Wounds."

This leaves me feeling... lost, on two counts.
1) how do I makeup for the loss of such a key aoe ability?
2) is unholy tanking less valuable now and on par with other specs for aoe-tanking?

1 - You don't.  You are basically going to be using Death and Decay as your AE aggro mechanism.  Wandering Plague will help a bit.  You could get corpse explosion, but that is really situational and requires a corpse.

2 - Yes.  Prot Pallies go back to being the kings of AE tanking.  Blood tanks have Heart Strike which I would rate slightly above Wandering Plague.  Frost is probably the best AE tanking spec in 3.2, assuming that someone takes Howling Blast.  HB + Deathchill (or KM) = lots of AE aggro.  If you glyph HB, you can get it to start up frost fever.  I have seen some Frost Tanks take Chilblains, as the snare effect keeps mobs off caster AEers or at least makes their rescue a bit easier.

I see.
I have a feeling I won't enjoy DK tanking nearly as much. I realize in the grand scope of things it seems like a small change, but it WAS my favorite spell/ability Wink

Between diseases/pestilence, DnD, unholy blight - the AOE tanking thing was so much fun , I always had AOE ticking. This will be very different territory for me.
